# DDR HT 400 grill -- 1 lb propane + pontoon rail mount -- Index Entry

## Summary

Adapt Sam's **DDR HT 400 LP gas grill** (currently set up with RV quick-connect
gas lines -- a short pigtail with male + female QC ends -- and a folding stand that
mounts to an RV bracket) for boat use: **(1) run it on 1 lb disposable propane camp
bottles**, and **(2) mount it to the side rail of Sam's pontoon**. The project page
documents the parts/options and the decision points; the actual buy is gated on a
few things Sam needs to verify first.

## The two decision gates

1. **Propane -- does the grill have its OWN regulator?** (SAM-CONFIRM)
   - **No regulator** -> buy an adapter/hose **WITH a regulator** (1 lb bottle is unregulated/high pressure).
   - **Has a regulator** -> buy a **PLAIN** 1"-20-to-quick-connect adapter (do NOT add a second regulator -> won't light).
2. **Mount -- OEM bracket vs universal rail clamp.** OEM DDR bracket may be discontinued; the universal rail-clamp path needs **two measurements** (pontoon rail profile/size + the grill's mount interface).

## SAM-CONFIRM / SAM-FILL

- SAM-CONFIRM: **grill onboard regulator yes/no -- CALL DDR 574-970-5650** (this decides plain-adapter vs regulator-kit; do NOT buy a plain adapter until answered); exact grill inlet thread (~1/4" port, measure); pontoon rail profile + size; grill mount interface (tab/post/bolt pattern).
- SAM-FILL: chosen propane adapter or regulator+hose kit (part # + price); chosen rail mount or OEM bracket (part # + price); any fabricated adapter-plate plan.

- Model **HT-400 Portable Gas Grill**, "For use with LP Gas"; **INPUT 12,000 BTU/H**; Id# 208837; CSA/Design certified to **ANS Z21.89/CSA 1.18-2013**; mfr DDR-LLC, Bristol Indiana 46507, **TEL 574-970-5650** (US contact); made in China (Foshan Juguan Metal Mfg).
- Inlet: **~1/4" threaded port** on the control/knob box.

## Status updates

- 2026-06-07: project created; project page built (propane + mount + shopping list with the decision gates). Pending Sam's inspect/measure on the four SAM-CONFIRM items before parts can be selected.
- 2026-06-29: verified label data added from Sam's photos. **Regulator gate RE-OPENED as UNVERIFIED** -- the earlier 2026-06-08 "grill self-regulates" assumption is flagged, not confirmed (a control knob may be a burner valve, not a pressure regulator). Evidence (ran off regulated RV gas, 12k BTU, Z21.89) suggests it may have NO internal regulator. Safety caution added: a plain 1 lb-bottle adapter into a non-regulated grill = high-pressure into a low-pressure appliance = fire/flashback hazard. **Action: call DDR 574-970-5650** to confirm regulator + inlet pressure before buying any adapter.
